Colin Powell: "The President Has Drifted Away from The Constitution"; Trump Fires Back
This way, Powell follows the steps of his former boss, previous Republican President George W. Bush, and decides to turn his back on Trump as he did in the past elections, where he publicly announced his support to Hillary Clinton's candidacy.
The reason Powell will not be voting for Donald Trump is that, according to him, the president has "drifted away from the constitution" for his implacable response to stop the violent riots that have been erupting across the country and which have caused terrible damage to small businesses, police departments, vandalizing historic monuments, and triggering a movement aimed at smearing the country's police forces.
"I certainly cannot in any way support President Trump this year," said Powell. He lies. He lies about things. And he gets away with it because people will not hold him accountable," said Powell.
Powell's announcement did not go unnoticed and after this statement, President Trump went on the attack on Twitter:
"Colin Powell, a real stiff who was very responsible for getting us into the disastrous Middle East Wars, just announced he will be voting for another stiff, Sleepy Joe Biden," the president said in a tweet, adding "Didn't Powell say that Iraq had 'weapons of mass destruction?' They didn't, but off we went to WAR!"
