Norman Weiss: "HBO Max's Santa Inc. Is Silly and Salacious, But It Could've Been More Subversive"

Image
Published by Norman Weiss for Prime Timer Seth Rogen and Sarah Silverman's raunchy and satirical animated HBO Max tribute to the Rankin/Bass Christmas specials, created by Shrill's Alexandra Rushfield, "is proudly crude and immature without wholly abandoning the holiday spirit," says Daniel Fienberg. "Often that immaturity comes at the expense of Santa Inc. ever being nearly as subversive as it thinks it is, but I’m not sure anybody involved here is likely to take my wish that the series were a bit smarter and maybe a hair more refined seriously." Fienberg adds: "Still, Santa Inc. works on some traditional levels, especially when it comes to its ensemble. Silverman’s Candy even resembles her Wreck-It-Ralph character and she plays right into the sort of enthusiastic, high-energy dirtiness that has always been the comedian’s hallmark. Rogen’s Santa boasts the actor’s reliable well-intentioned bluster and Nicholas Braun’s Devin, a frat boy with

Hannah Nathanson: "A White Teacher Taught White Students About White Privilege. It Cost Him His Job."

Image
Published by Hannah Nathanson for The Washington Post : Matthew Hawn checked his phone to see if the wait was finally over. It had been five months since he was fired for teaching about white privilege at a high school in rural Tennessee. Two months since he had fought to regain his job at an emotional three-day hearing, becoming a symbol of the acrimonious debate over the way race, racism and history should be taught in America’s schools. Now - nothing. No announcements from the school district about his appeal effort. No messages from his lawyer. No texts from the friends and former colleagues who had sustained him through a lonely half-year of jobless limbo. Could he return to teaching in his hometown? Apparently, no one knew, although an independent hearing officer was supposed to deliver a verdict by the end of the week. It was now Friday, inching past 4:26 p.m. on an October afternoon. Hawn, 43, white and balding, sighed. Marloh, his German shepherd, started

MSNBC Reporter Cory Stieg: "With Omicron Out There, Here’s How To Decide If You Should Celebrate Christmas"

Image
Published by Cory Stieg for CNBC : Omicron is the unwelcome party guest at everyone’s holiday gatherings this year. Scientists are still trying to learn about the new Covid variant — including how transmissible it is, how well current vaccines work against it and where its biggest hotspots are. Many of those answers won’t be known for at least a couple weeks, just in time for Christmas. Without those answers, you may need to ask yourself a tough question: Is it safe to attend a holiday party? If you’re vaccinated and gathering with other vaccinated people, the answer is a simple “yes,” White House chief medical advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci said in a briefing last week. Ideally, every guest should be boosted, too. If anyone’s unvaccinated at your party — including small children who aren’t yet vaccine-eligible — or unwilling to share their vaccination status, your decision gets much harder. You’ll face a higher risk of getting sick or transmitting the virus to someone else, e

The Sacklers Allegedly Drained Billions From Purdue Pharma Before Filing For Bankruptcy...

Image
Members of the Sackler family on Monday said billions of dollars they collected from Purdue Pharma before the company filed for Chapter 11 in the United States was the result of extra cash, not part of a “secret plan” to abuse the bankruptcy system. In court papers, lawyers for the Sackler family members, who controlled Purdue Pharma, rejected US District Judge Colleen McMahon’s suggestion that the more than $10bn the company paid out in the years leading up to the 2019 bankruptcy could amount to an abuse of the Chapter 11 process. Around half of the money went to taxes or business investments, according to court documents. The Sacklers are alleged to have drained Purdue Pharma of cash over several years. When it eventually filed for bankruptcy in the face of lawsuits over the opioid epidemic, the company needed the Sacklers’ money to settle the billions of dollars of legal claims. In return, the Sacklers were able to demand protection from the lawsuits. The Sacklers rejecte

Don Lemon Accuser: "CNN is a Predator Protecting Machine, Rife w/ Perverts"

Image
In 2019, the openly gay Dustin Hice filed a lawsuit against Don Lemon, accusing the CNN host of shoving his hands down his pants, rubbing his genitals, and then thrusting his fingers into Hice’s face. The alleged incident occurred at a bar on New York’s Long Island. Hice reportedly said of the incident on the Fox show Waters’ World, “…And shoved his fingers up under my nose, pushed my head back, and asked me if I liked p—- or d—. I’m not going to say it. And I was disgusted, as you can assume, and I fled the bar.” CNN has continued to stand behind Don Lemon, who has allegedly tried to settle with Hice on multiple occasions. In response to the network terminating Chris Cuomo for alleged sexual misconduct and for using CNN resources to aid his brother’s crisis team, Hice told Fox News Digital that the network protects predators. “They’re a network rife with predators and perverts,” Hice said. “Lemon will have to testify under oath in the near future, but it’s good to see that

Thank you @GovEvers for your vetoes, it was an honor to join you this morning. #AbortionIsHealthcare

Greg Abbott tweeted. “Earlier this year, the Biden Admin. temporarily lifted restrictions on abortion-inducing drugs allowing them to be delivered by mail. We will not allow that in Texas.” Mail-order abortion drugs are now prohibited in Texas. WHY? – Pedo Jeffrey Epstein Visited the White House During Clinton's Presidency 17 TIMES!

Image
Published by Daniel Bates for The Daily Mail Jeffrey Epstein's access to the Clinton White House has been laid bare by visitor logs exclusively obtained by DailyMail.com, which reveal the pedophile visited at least 17 times during the former president's first few years in office. Epstein, who died in 2019, visited Bill Clinton at the Executive Mansion over the course of three years with the first invitation coming just a month after his inauguration in January 1993. The logs show the late financier showed up on 14 separate days, even making two visits in a single day on three different occasions. Epstein was invited by some of Clinton's most senior advisers and aides, including one who later served as Treasury Secretary, according to records. The documents reveal that the vast majority of Epstein's visits stated that he was going to the West Wing, meaning there was a strong likelihood he was meeting Clinton. The disclosure puts renewed scrutiny on Clinto

Planned Parenthood Is Attacked: +400K Patient's Personal, Clinical Data Stolen...

Image
Published by Dr. Susan Berry for Breitbart In letters and emails sent to patients November 30 to notify them about the attack, Planned Parenthood wrote the files involved in the breach contained patients’ names, addresses, insurance information, dates of birth, and clinical data, such as diagnosis, procedure, and/or prescription information, the Daily Mail reported . “The breach is staggering both for the number of victims and for the highly personal information hackers stole, which could identify people who’ve had abortions and other procedures,” the Washington Post noted as well Thursday. According to the letter to patients, PPLA “identified suspicious activity” on its computer network on October 17. The organization wrote it “immediately took our systems offline, notified law enforcement,” and hired a “third-party cybersecurity firm” to assist in an investigation. The letter stated the investigation revealed “an unauthorized person gained access to our network” betwee

When The Vodka Kicks In – Pelosi Again Suffers Episode of 'Brain Freeze' on Live TV

Image
Published by Joe Saunders for The Western Journal The evidence is building that President Joe Biden isn’t the only Democrat Americans should be worried about when it comes to how things are working upstairs. When House Speaker Nancy Pelosi took to the podium on Thursday for her weekly news conference, she launched into a stream of incoherence that would have rivaled Biden on his worst day. And it couldn’t have built much confidence in the nation’s top leadership. According to a C-SPAN archive of the news conference, Pelosi was asked about a bill backed by Sens. Marco Rubio, Republican of Florida, and Chris Murphy, Democrat of Connecticut, that punishes China for its manifold human rights abuses. Pelosi’s answer, if you can call it that, left even the most devoted partisans scratching their heads. Absolutely pic.twitter.com/d3abTXg8Yk — Tom Elliott (@tomselliott) December 2, 2021 What she seemed to be trying to say was that a bill in the House from Rep. Jim McGovern, a

Former Spokesperson for Dem D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser Says He Switched Parties After Biden Took Office...

Image
Published by Sophie Mann for Just The News A former spokesperson for Washington, D.C., Democratic Mayor Muriel Bowser says he switched political parties after President Biden assumed office and that he voted for Glenn Youngkin in the Republican's recent, successful bid to become Virginia's next governor. Victor Jimenez told Fox News host Tucker Carlson on Wednesday night that until recently he was "lead public information officer at [Bowser's] office for community affairs" and worked prior to that in a similar role for Latino outreach. "The reason I switched parties is because of everything that's going on in the country right now," Jimenez, an Afro-Dominican immigrant, told Carlson. "We see immigration through the roof right now, and that is affecting a lot of Hispanic families in my home state of Virginia. And those are people who are already struggling with making ends meet."
