The White House has announced that Joe Biden has earmarked $46 million to meet the “unexpected urgent” needs of “vulnerable refugees and migrants in Central America and third countries in the region.” A portion of the funds will be channeled to international organizations by the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration, the White House said in a statement Friday. The money comes from the U.S. Emergency Refugee and Migration Assistance Fund, established by the Migration and Refugee Assistance Act of 1962, which gave the president discretion to use it “for any emergency situation involving unexpected refugee and migration needs, whenever and wherever it occurs,” according to the Department of Justice (DOJ)... The UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs confirmed to the Journal that Black Lives Matter (BLM) co-founder Patrisse Cullors will be giving a pre-recorded speech as the keynote speaker to the school’s June 11 graduation ceremony. Cullors, who recently resigned from the Black Lives Matter Global Foundation, said during a 2015 panel, “Palestine is our generation’s South Africa. If we don’t step up boldly and courageously to end the imperialist project that’s called Israel, we’re doomed.” She also encouraged people to look into the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement and to show support for Rasmea Odeh, who was convicted of two 1969 bombings in Jerusalem and was deported from Chicago to Jordan in 2017 after pleading guilty of failing to disclose her prior conviction when applying for United States citizenship in 2004... Joe Biden’s nominee to lead the Bureau of Land Management, Tracy Stone-Manning, received legal immunity to testify in a 1993 criminal trial, court documents obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation show. The trial resulted in a 17 month prison sentence for tree spiking, a violent tactic used to prevent logging. Stone-Manning testified that she sent an anonymous and threatening letter to the Forest Service in 1989 on behalf of John P. Blount, who she identified as her former roommate and a member of her circle of friends, court documents show. The letter warned that a local forest in Idaho set to be logged had been sabotaged with tree spikes, according to the documents. “P.S. The city council in Asheville, N.C., this week unanimously approved $2.1 million in reparations for black residents in a mostly white community. The funding will come from the sale of city property. The city plans to spend $200,000 on the planning and community engagement process and about $1.9 million on initial reparations. The council approved the funding without debate Wednesday so that it could be finalized before Juneteenth. Juneteenth, short for June 19th, is the day when the end of slavery is celebrated. Witnesses have described the terrifying moment crew asked for ‘strong men’ to help subdue a passenger who tried to open a door on a Delta flight from Los Angeles to Atlanta. An eyewitness said on Twitter that passenger grabbed the public addresss system in the front galley and made an announcement telling others to take their seats and to be prepared to put on their oxygen masks, before attempting to force open the door. In response, flight attendants asked all “strong able-bodied men” to go the front of the plane to help. In video posted online, passengers and crew members can be seen restraining the man. A man tried to crash a flight between Los Angeles to Atlanta by forcibly opening the door.
